the macRitchie curse....
wanting to revive the wonderful memories of our sec sch cross country runs, the Sporty trio (xy lionel and me) decided to head for macRitchie for a run/walk.. den a couple of wrong decisions led to a series of unfortunate events.. halfway along the normal cross country route, we decided to go for the tree top trail.. along the way we encounter several monkeys of ill omen which we chose to ignore... n we walked n walked n walked lik there was no tml...

along the way we even encounter "no entry" sign (cos' of some land slide incident) forcing us stubbornly embark on a longer alternative route... totally unaware that that was the second sign for us to head back... n when we finally reached our destination (prob more den 6 km already) ... we were warmly welcomed by a locked gate and a sign that says,
.
"open daily EXCEPT on mondays"
.
We could have ended our agony by jumping off the ledge, but we fought that urge and chose to head back... in the vicinity we even saw an SAF safety rover, apparently they are having their outfield exercise... we resort to asking an NSF Ranger/signaler for the shortest way back... he pointed out a route n said it was less den 1 km... with no water, no ezlink, no money, der was no other choice.... n we walked n walked again... for another 6 km or so...

no doubt we cleared 12 to 15 km altogether... took about 4 hrs.. surprizingly less den the estimated 5 hrs as stated in the brochures....en route we come across several "sadako"-wells, fallen trees, purple bamboo forest, untrustworthy road signs, abandoned Ranger station... the Sporty trio has finally conquered the macRitchie, but for the next couple of years, probably, der wun be anymore excursions...

went for sakae buffet after that, eat until i wanna puke...
