for the whole of next week, i'l be at TTSH ^^ to help collect data for a complain case. some of devices went haywired, showing temperature readings either higher or lower than expected when the clinical trials showed no such problems before it was launched into the market. Then there's this guy who was retained in the hospital for 10 days because the sensor registered a higher-than normal-reading. suspected fever. Now that it's clear that the device was showing erroneous readings, the guy was planning to sue to hospital. The fact that he's a friend of the hospital's CEO made matters worse. Im kinda assisting the few assigned to investigate the case. i tink it's not easy to read the charts and try to come up with all sorts of explanations to account for the erroneous readings, cos ANYTHING could hav affected the readings. It's placed at the pelvis area, patients who wore diapers, covered in hot/cold blanket, or went xray could have affected the readings. so we had to isolate perculiar cases and monitor them separatedly. for instance when the reading reads,"low", we had to find out if the device was removed, or it was faulty, if was removed, why it's removed that sort of thing.. check for temperature discrepancy etc..
heez..at this time, it's impt to maintain the confidence level and uphold the company's image. but on my first day there, we encountered the first problem: the server crashed. one of my colleagues was saying, " oh shit, i was just giving them the assurance yesterday that nothing will go wrong." for that brief moment we were praying that the IT guys back in office could resolve the problems b4 our clients complain and our boss notified. Then we recieve the first call, yw's reply was,
" Oh the server is down? No no, Please tell ur staff to be patient. currently we are trying to upgrade the system so that it can process faster. "

the one fingrer typer, so wweird I cant type properly when im using more than one finger on the left hend. Omg look at tall the ttypo eerrors. So weird I cant do it . fells so retarded. I was assigned to the marketing department to provide the necessary assistance to the marketing executive, Farand Ngoh. Although it was not closely related to my field of study, it was a challenge and an opportunity to gain working experience. Furthermore, the jobscope is fairly broad and flexible; it does not involve rigorous routine work.
The Marketing Sector works closely with the Sales Sector, they are responsible for liaising with clients, maintaining the company’s website and using press releases to create public awareness of our products, as well as dealing with pamphlet- and brochure production. The team deals with the existing products, explore new ideas and tries to sell them in different packages catering to different needs. For instance, promoting our product as devices that enhance monitoring of vital signs, asset tracking and patient flow.
The company has two major target consumers, namely the general public and hospitals

i got stuff to do today ^^ k gues it's oni temporary. was asked to help out the Solutions team. As the name suggests, the team deals with complaints and come up with solutions. the team had to go to TTSH today, cos apparently one of our latest products are not working properly. SmartSense is all bout monitoring the temperature 24/7 wirelessly. there's this elegant round pellet thing called thermo-sensor which you stick to the side of ur pelvis area, and it can monitor you temperature and track your location. But we got complains that there's discrepancy in the temperature recorded...so need to investigate.. ... hee tink der's quite alot to learn .. quite interesting.. was only helping out la.. after that we adjourned to CDC.. where they house all the patients suffering from Aids, TB, dengue etc... >.<

Day 3. And i finally popped the question. it's realli not fun to be seated near the entrance and pantry, to see people walk pass all the time, to try and be discreet while msning or surfing the net, having to shrink the msn window until it occupies a small corner on the screen and set to the no-display-pix mode so that people wouldn't notice that im msn-ing all the time. I want to work, i hate to be saying this but i want to contribute. i took oni one module expecting to commit myself to this attachment, just to find myself wasting my time away. hour-long bus ride, on my laptop and start staring at the screen, trying to look bz in front of other interns so that they wun ostracise me for being the slacker. waiting for lunch time. waiting for 6pm to reach.i was literally staring at the time display at the corner of the laptop screen. it's tormenting.. why can;t i jus go for exchange.

blessing in disguise?.. i was 5 min late. they were expecting 2 interns. i was the third to arrive. And i landed myself in Marketing dept. initially, i tot it was a pity cos the pple in QA and prod appeared to be pretty friendly. yup, i was assigned to Farand, the only guy in the Marketing dept. He's kind of easy-going. always on msn, even brought me to have lunch and old Chang kee. yup. when he learnt tt i had knowledge on using PS, he said, "it's probably the best news i've recieved thus far." ha, cos i cant even fix the com b4 that. felt so stupid.o_o
the bosses are from NUS Alumni, seems pretty friendly ^^. open-concept office, lik one huge room, CEO seats at one corner together with all the chief officers. first day wasnt too bad.. ^^

wouldn't expect myself to undergo any drastic changes. transition from 08 to 09 is not much different from that between any other days. nonetheless, it's a new year. let me take this as an excuse to reflect on myself and stuff. not that 08 has been a bad year, but alot of things have happened, it really was a difficult year.. it forced me to confront problems which i've always been trying to avoid, forced me to adapt, forced me to change. Life's a roller coaster, and 08 has left me feeling pretty pukish .. i don't wish to find excuses, i admit i'vnt done well in alot of areas, neglected some of my friends, losing hold of those who are dear to me, almost forgeting what bonded us in the first place. 09, to me, is a second chance, is probably bout dealing with the reminisence of the previous year, and moving on.
to all, if i hvnt done well in any areas, or havnt been doing enough. let me jus say this, im sorry, tho i guess ive probably said this a thousand times. in any case Happy New year. let it b a new beginning.
